the Counts of
Montbéliard
The Château of Montbéliard was originally a defensive fortress, built in the 10th century on a rocky spur overlooking the town. It became the residence of the Counts of Montbéliard in the 11th century, then one of the residences of the Dukes of Württemberg in the 15th century. To this day, it remains the symbol of four centuries of their dynasty (1397-1793).
